Fitness Journey: P90X End of Week 1

Hey Dan here, just dropping some quick thoughts and references points for week 1 of my P90x workout program. I was alittle disapointed that I overtrained the first day, I felt like it really hendered me alot in week 1 ,I was pretty sore. So like I pointed out in my last Fitness Tip, remember to take it slow and easy in the begining, if you choose to do the P90x home workout. I did finished the week off strong with soulders, arms and kenpo x. I wasn't going to do the kenpo x , but figured I'd give it a try. Man I'm glad I did it was awesome, and I certainly felt the burn it give you (good burn that is) ! I recommend not to skip any of the workouts in this program, they will all have extreme benifits to your final results in the end! One of the things that really helped out this week after the workout was the P90x Recovery drink ,  which I highly recomend ! It's got a pretty good taste to it, kinda like a mixture between orange sherbert and vanilla .

I started week 2 (yesterday) off with chest, back and ab ripper x, and followed my own advice to pace myself and modify, to get the best out of the workout. This was a whole lot better, I'm feeling that good burn today, that lets me know that I pushed myself just right. This week is off to an awesome start! Friday is plyometrics day and I'm still pressing play !

Keep Moving Forward, and please feel free to comment, share and subscribe to Achieve Fitness Today

Don't Quit , Keep Moving Forward !

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low, and the depts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is strange with its twist and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about, When he might have won had he struck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turn inside out, The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you can never tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the when you're hardest hit, It's when things seem worst, That you must not quit. ~Author Unknow

Fitness Tip: Overtraining

If your planning on doing P90x or any other type of workout program heres alittle tip: Learn from my mistake! I failed to remember the #1 rule of workouts, which is when your starting any new workout program take the first week slow and easy ,to avoid overtraining ,which leads to injury. Doing it this way will also allow you to get a real good feel for the program as well. After the 1st week of your workout program increase the intensity alittle more as each week progresses. Over tme your body will adjust and in no time you will be stronger, faster and fitter! Always remember to just keep moving forward!

Fitness Journey: P90X Update

Had a wonderful Easter and hope everyone else did as well ! My Easter started saturday @ 5 a.m, my father in law and I went on a fishing trip. We canoed around 5 miles or so,didn't catch much just two 6 in. bass,we got in the water around 7:30am and out at 1:00pm. Then went and did my families Easter get together, got home around 10 p.m, long day. Sunday we did a small treasure hunt for my kiddos, then went to my wifes family Easter get together, got home around 9 p.m, another long day, but it was all worth it.

This whole weekend I was still very sore from my first two workouts, so due to the Easter Holiday, and the overtraining, I had to take this time to allow myself to heal. I'm feeling a whole lot better now, so will continue my workout on Monday as scheduled.

My wife has decided to join me in my workouts. She is in her second time around for P90x (on week 4) and has decided to start it over so we can do P90x together. We had to come up with a schedule that was good fit for us both, so heres how we're doing it:

Wed. Chest&Back - Thurs. Rest - Fri. Plyometrics - Sat. Shoulder&Arms - Sun. Yoga - Mon. Legs&Back - Tues. Kenpo for me- Rest Day for my wife.

Tuesdays & Thursday are very busy days for her. Sundays aren't that busy for us ,so thats why we are doing Yoga on that day, since it's the longest workout.

Side Note:
Monday & Tuesday I'll finish my week one as planned. My wife and I will start on week 2 together on Wed.

Fitness Journey: P90X Days 1 & 2

Well so far so good, I made it through chest, back and ab ripper x on day1 yesterday. I am way out of shape due to my crazy experiment ,and paying for now! Today I did plyometrics and only had to stop twice for about 60 sec each time. On both days I did do alot of modifications on some of the exercises just to be able to get through it,but I did put in my best effort!

Think I might of pushed myself alittle to hard though on chest and back, my lower tricep muscle is extremly tight and it hurts to bend it. Been rubbing some sports cream and streching it out alot today, so it should be healed on time for shoulders & arms on Day 3. Overall experience was awesome aferwards, I was very much full of energy!

Heres a run down for each day for future reference:

Day 1 Chest&Back:
Round 1 , on pull up exercises I did 10 reps then used chair to pump out another 10, on push ups I did 20 except on the diamond push where I was only able to push 10 out.

Round 2, on pull ups I was only able to do 5 then pumded out 10 more with chair. On push up I was only able to do 10-15 then would pump out 10-15 more on my knees, except on diamond push ups I was only able to do 5 then pushed out 5 more on my knees. Still need alot of work just to get back to where was and I tell ya what though, the pain is worth it!

Day 2 Plyometrics:
Got through this exercise smoother than expected, only had to stop twice for an extra 60 sec break. Must be from all the jogging I been doing. I did have to modify about half way through though, man it started to get intense at the end, my hip flexers were on fire, but it felt awesome! Had lots of energy after it was all said and done!

On both days after workouts were completed I had nice tall glass of cold p90x Recovery drink...Ahhhh..those hit the spot after intense workouts!
